MANISCHEWITZ® REACHES 1,500 FACEBOOK FANS- DONATES ANOTHER 500 CANS OF ALL-NATURAL BROTH

The Company Makes Its Third Donation of 500 cans to the Island Harvest Food Bank in Long Island, NY

Secaucus, NJ (October 2010) — The Manischewitz Company, leader in kosher foods, continues to gives back with its third "Fans for Cans" donation. In honor of the 1,500th fan, Manischewitz has made their latest donation to the Island Harvest Food Bank located in Long Island, NY. As the colder months approach, 500 cans of Manischewitz All-Natural Broths were donated to this food bank to provide warmth and nourishment to those in need. The Island Harvest is the largest food bank in Long Island, NY and participates in a number of food drives, commercial donor and volunteerism programs in an effort to combat hunger in the area.

Manischewitz kicked off the program in November 2009 with 500 cans having gone to the Cleveland Food Bank after the company accumulated its first 500 Facebook fans. The way the program works is for every 500 Facebook fans accumulated, the company will give away 500 cans of a variety of the Manischewitz All-Natural Broths. Once you become a fan, you will have an option to nominate a food bank or a soup kitchen of your choice by writing on the company's wall explaining why a particular food bank should be selected. For each increment of 500 fans received, Manischewitz randomly selects a food bank from the list of nominees.

About The Manischewitz Company:
The Manischewitz Company is a specialty food company that includes the Manischewitz brand®, Season®, Guiltless Gourmet®, Asian Harvest®, Tam Tam®, Rokeach®, Mishpacha®, Horowitz Margareten®, Jason®, Mother's®, Carmel®, Croyden House®, Mrs. Adler's® and Goodman's® brands. The company offers a diversified line of premium kosher food products that covers over 60 different categories.

The Manischewitz® brand was founded in a small bakery built to make Passover matzo in 1888 by Rabbi Dov Behr Manischewitz in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1932, Rabbi Manischewitz opened a plant in Jersey City, NJ, replacing the operation in Cincinnati. This move paved the way for the introduction of new products like Tam Tam® Crackers, Chicken Soup, Noodles and Gefilte Fish.

The Season® brand was the inspiration of Issac Epstein, a Polish immigrant who started his career as a food merchant selling specialty products to grocery stores in New York and New Jersey over 80 years ago. In the 50's, as the brand's reputation as a diversified line of high quality, canned seafood, specialty vegetable and Asian products grew, so did the business, with Season becoming a household staple in cities like, Miami, Chicago and Los Angeles. Today, Season products can be found on supermarket shelves all across the United States, as well as in countries as close as Canada and as far away as Israel.
